Muds Hens Vs. Norfolk Tides

The Mud Hens played the Norfolk Tides last night. About 65 people from our church all went together. It rained on us twice and the Hens lost, but it's always fun to hang out with friends, the kids got to run the bases and there were fireworks.

Rowan got out on the field and ran from first base to second (they don't run from home to first). He was happy and laughing. Turned the corner to third and got sidetracked by John Deere golf carts that the maintenance team uses to take care of the field. I had to keep him on course for third base because he was running for those. He got on third, stood there for a second and everyone was laughing. Lots of bigger boys came running up as he was standing on the plate and of course they had to touch the plate. My face had to be hysterical . My hands went up to cover my eyes from the inevitable collide. But they didn't hit him.

He rounded the corner to home with my help because those "tractors" were even closer now. Midway between third and home, he was nearly trampled again. He did make it however and was very excited.

Nadine and Jourdyn ran them as fast as they could.

After running the bases, there were fireworks. The Mud Hens put on fireworks on the weekends. We parked at the corner of Monroe and Summit. We park there everytime we go to a game and have never had any problems. Well, it was really windy last night and all of the debris blew over to that lot. Our car was covered in fireworks. As we started to wipe them off, we realized that it was just covered in fireworks, it was burnt by fireworks. The hood has little burns in the paint and the roof has some as well. The Toledo Police came over and made a report. It was funny because some other parkers came over complaining about their cars being dirty and wanting them washed. The officer (who was very nice) told them the washing isn't their problem but if the car is damaged then he'll help him. The officer had worked the games at that lot for 7 years and never seen this happen. But he also had never seen the fireworks blow in this direction.

So today I have to call the Hens and see what they say about fixing it.

When I'm not in here day to day I need to start at the bottom... Glad you had a good atime and go Rowan - tractors are better than bases.. Sorry about car, but Mud Hen should make it right.

OH, NO (Mr. Bill- hehehe)! That's a big time bummer... Bro & I are going with work on the 25th. They gave me a parking pass (which I'm sure I'll have to use). Hopefully the wind's not blowing in that direction that night~! (LOL!) Glad all had fun, and Rowan didn't get rammed in to! There are just so many distractions, Mom!
