My picture of the day: my dogs tail! Today Tate had about 4 inches taken off his tail. On Friday we realized that the hair at the tip of his tail was missing. By Sunday the skin was all black. By yesterday, it began to pull away, ripping and bleeding. So we took him to the vet this morning. The tip of his tail had died and his body was rejecting it. They had to amputate part of his tail today. And this is what he looked like coming home!
The doctor said that this happens when their tails are pinched in a car door or something like that. Tater doesn't go away with us as much as he should, so a car door is out of the question. The best we can figure is his tail getting caught in the slider to the backyard. However, Tate is a big baby he would have yelped and screamed. So really we don't know what happened to him.
But he is home, and while his tail a shorter, my pocket book's a little lighter! Although our vet is very reasonable, and Tate's worth it!

Awe poor dog! I would hate to have my tail dying and couldn't do anything about it! LOL
Hope he is his tail waggin self again soon!
Awwww...poor thing!! That must have been sad to see.
Poor dog - how sad! Glad you noticed! Our dog was always getting cut when we lived at another house... big gashes. We finally figured out he was getting caught on a fence!
